Conlon Taaffe

Creator / Storyboard Artist

Creators Society Development Branch Chief

Conlon loved doodling and began filling up sketchbooks at age six. He watched tons of cartoons and HBO. All the doodling blossomed into a fascination with the art of storytelling.

Conlon graduated from Chicago’s DePaul University animation program. It's a fantastic program that allows first-year students to begin training in animation. He says the professors and labs are great, and the program includes 2D and 3D training.

He moved from Chicago to LA to begin his animation career and worked for a startup.

A lover of baseball and huge Cubs fan, he was there when the Cubs won the 2016 World Series, working on setup crew. His other love is watching a movie at the theater as often as possible.

A current project he’s working to develop into a show is a Ninja vs. Pirate story. He'd like to expand beyond storyboarding and character design into writing, music composition, and sound design.

His advice for others seeking an animation career is to network, collaborate and share their art with others. Putting his advice into practice, he’s the Creators Society Development Branch Chief and helps run the Story Group events. After meeting Eric Miller at the 2018 CTN, he joined the Creators Society in 2019. According to Conlon the best thing about Creators Society are the meetings and sharing stories with other members.
